Everywhere and Nowhere

--

I see you everywhere
and yet nowhere
In passing eyes
and midnight air

I breathe your scent
on crowded streets
in quiet corners
and empty seats

You’re in the air
You’re in the light
You’re in the silence
late at night
I see you everywhere
and yet nowhere

I hear your laugh
and turn around
But there’s no face
to match the sound

You live between
the then and now
A trace of you
that time won’t allow

You’re in the air
You’re in the light
You’re in the hush
before the night
I see you everywhere
and yet nowhere
