Her Story (Part 4)

In the warm glow of the setting sun, we walk in silence along the water’s edge, not touching, not speaking, our parallel thoughts make it even difficult to breathe.

We stop and turn, and then step toward each other, the wanting and waiting almost unbearable.

Standing here, seeing so much desire in your eyes, I don’t believe I’ve ever felt as loved as I do in this moment.

I reach my hand out to gently touch your face and trace my fingertips along your lips that radiate the same emotions I feel deep inside myself.

I lower my eyes as you reach your hand up to my forehead to brush away a few stray strands of windblown hair.

Aching for you to wrap me in your arms, longing to hear your heart beat, I didn’t notice the waves suddenly approaching.
