I just want to say hi to you because what you’ve written about is very familiar. In fact, our families have a lot in common. My two daughters were raised in Brentwood on the westside of Los Angeles. I believe you are the same age as my older daughter, Amy, who just turned thirty-three last week.
The night before 9/11, I was on the phone with NYU (Tisch School of the Arts) about Amy’s application. The next day, Amy said “I’m not going that far away. In fact, I won’t go anywhere I have to take a plane.”
I know you don’t have that in common, as I see you went away to college during that time and then all the way to the UK. She went to Pepperdine.
However, your parents separated at the same time we did, and it is my ex husband who is the lawyer. My younger daughter, Olivia, is the tennis player. In fact, I am now living in San Diego because she received a full athletic scholarship to play tennis at SDSU.
And lastly, your father reminds me of many of the men in his age group who became therapists in the 70s. He sounds like a wonderful person and father, and you are a lovely daughter.
