I’m in Love with a Dog
In just a few more hours my sweet Cavapoo, Georgia Button, will turn six. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I could love a dog this much. Never did I think I would ever have another dog in my life, after having several dogs that I re-homed by the age of two — for reasons most wouldn’t approve of — which led me to believe two things: That dogs were not the special creatures that so many believed them to be, and that I just didn’t have the heart to love an animal. I really didn’t spend much time thinking about it. I just thought “Oh, but they’re just dogs.” But from the moment Georgia was born, I loved her like no other. I don’t know if it was the weekly email with photos attached that the breeder sent religiously, making me feel that I was seeing sonograms of my own baby or the fact that Georgia couldn’t be any more perfect in every single way imaginable or that I’ve made huge changes in my own life; but whatever it is, I began to have a newly found appreciation for all animals through my love for Georgia. Some people will still say “Oh, but she’s just a dog,” but to me and those who know her or have their own special one, she’s the most amazing gift imaginable. Happy Birthday, precious baby! I love you madly!
