Coincidence that Louise mentioned Cosmopolitan magazine because back when this story took place, I was a fan of Cosmo and read a very interesting article that goes along with the story. In a nutshell: Why are attractive women lonely? Because they look aloof and unapproachable. So men take their attention over to cutsie Susie cheerleader who looks fun and inviting because he doesn’t want to take a chance on being rejected by the attractive woman, who becomes lonelier and looks even more stuck up.
