This makes me feel very sad, S, but I feel that somehow you must have received nurturing and support because how would you otherwise be the lovely woman you have become today? True, I only know you through your stories and responses to me and to others, but I perceive you as a young woman who has strength of character. Think about it. If not from parents, where did you find these exceptional qualities? I’ll tell you where. From hurt and pain you grew, and you learned how to take care of your own needs.

If this is a boyfriend or close friend telling you that you have not made any progress, I suggest you take a good look at the source. And try not to give up your power to anyone. I was once in a relationship where I felt so much love for someone that I believed anything he told me about myself was the truth. I even said to my therapist, “If Michael can’t love me, than no one will.” No! No! and No!

I am giving you a warm hug and a shove to give you a push in the right direction. There, now go!!
