Watching Him Love Her

She pauses at the open window and closes her eyes, savoring the cool evening air as it brushes across her bare shoulders. A pale silk quilt clings to her hips, the color nearly matching her fair skin. For a moment, the world is quiet. Then, with a subtle shift of her hips, the cover slips from her body and pools at her feet in a soundless sigh. She reaches up, pulls a clip from her hair, and lets her soft, golden curls tumble down over her shoulders.

She twirls once at the center of the room, a slow, feminine spin, her arms slightly outstretched as if the moonlight has summoned her to dance. It kisses the soft curves of her body, casting shadows that highlight the gentle arc of her waist, the swell of her breasts, the long length of her thighs.

I gasp, as he does, though he’s lying just a few steps from her. They are wrapped in each other, an invisible bond of longing and comfort, while I remain unnoticed, tucked in the shadows. A lump forms in my throat, and I blink, trying to keep it all in. My tears hover just behind the surface.

I watch his face as he takes her in. His breathing deepens. His lips part slightly. His eyes never leave her body as she moves toward him. There’s hunger in his gaze, but tenderness and something deeper. She runs her fingers along her curves, slow and sensual, like she’s discovering herself for the first time. Then she moves…
